"DAINGERFIELD (KYTX) - Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a bank robbery that occurred Friday in Daingerfield.

An FBI spokesperson tells CBS19 the two suspects, 22-year-old Latarious Hughes and 21-year-old Kenneth Hooks were taken into custody in Longview, and are jailed in Gregg County on State bank robbery charges."

Black man gets life for beating death of boy forced to hold paint cans

"A College Park man was sentenced Friday to life in prison, plus 50 years in the death of a 12-year-old boy forced to hold paint cans for hours in the summer heat as punishment.

Omar Andrew Pitts, 32, pleaded guilty to murder, felony murder, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the death of Jay’tavious Mahone, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said.

Pitts and the victim’s sister, Sabrina Powell, were arrested immediately following the boy’s death. Pitts, who has remained in the Fulton County jail since his arrest, was previously facing the death penalty.

Powell remained in jail Friday night awaiting trial."

Briefs: Jackson police seek North Side black burglar

"He entered on Feb. 15, 16, 17 and 18. Police said the burglar stole items such as food and drinks and spent the night in one of the teachers’ lounges. They said he also drove one of the school vans and damaged it by crashing into something.

The burglar also recorded himself on a handheld video camera in one of the classrooms. Images of the burglar were taken from the device and the school’s surveillance system and released to the media."

"An Enid sex offender charged last year with residing within 2,000 feet of a park was charged again with the same offense this week.

Michael Eugene Martin, 37, was charged Tuesday with the felony count. Online court records show he was charged with the same offense in June 2014."

Kanyon Ainnone Carter, 41, was driving with a revoked license Feb. 7 when his westbound Chevy Suburban crossed the center median and struck a Toyota Tundra head-on, police said. Carter’s SUV burst into flames, according to the search warrant."

Statesboro police arrest three black males after morning murder

"STATESBORO Ga., (WJCL) — The Statesboro Police Department has arrested three suspects in a Friday morning murder investigation.

Steven Williams, 21, Joseph Miles, 18, and Malik Rashad Freeman, 19, were detained at Campus Crossings and transported to the Statesboro Police Department for questioning.
